INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

MATTHEW VINES

As you know, Matt has been successful in gaining an Acting Principal position at Carnegie Primary School for term 4. We are so happy for Matt and wish him a wonderful time in the new role. At this stage, it’s good-bye for now, as Matt is due to return to SMPPS for 2023.  I have advertised for an Acting Assistant Principal as Matt’s short-term replacement.

QUEEN ELIZABETH II

It is with deep sadness that we marked the passing of Queen Elizabeth 11 last Friday. We are inspired by her service of over 70 years and steadfast commitment to her duty. Our community paused for a minute’s silence as a mark of respect.

PARENT PARTNERSHIPS

It has been lovely to see so many families coming into school this term to read with students, to support excursions, to be part of the launch phase of our curiosity units and to join in community events. I am so thrilled to see our parents and carers as partners in learning.

MINI ART SHOWS

Thank you to Miss Michael who facilitated mini-art shows over the last two weeks. This was not an easy undertaking, but Miss Michael, like all of our staff at SMPPS, always goes above and beyond to help our kids shine. Congratulations to our children who have shown some excellent artistic skills and ideas. I know they were pretty chuffed to share their work with the community.

SPORTS NEWS

Congratulations to the children who competed so well at the District sports last week. Every child put in their best effort and represented our school with pride. I was so proud to see such great sportsmanship and courage on the day. A special mention to Ellie Taylor who is moving on to Division in the 200m event – Good luck Ellie! We’ve also had swimming for our Preps and Hoop-time for our 3/4s. What a busy term. Thank you to Ms Osman, and all the staff and parents, who have supported our kids and made these events possible.

HOUSE SPIRIT

I really didn’t know what to expect when I heard about House Spirit Day. What I discovered was lots of chanting and cheering for others, so many fun, engaging activities and a positive vibe running throughout the whole school. Thanks to our wonderful staff for once again, organising an event that fosters such positive community spirit.

SCHOOL PERFORMANCE

I hope you managed to attend the performance yesterday. It was a beautiful, heart-warming show. Thanks to the families who attended, to our staff for their support and to our students for being so involved and performing so well. Mrs Paech is to be congratulated on the incredible effort she put in to making the performance come to life. Her energy and passion were definitely contagious!

I would like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday. We will see you back at school on Monday, 3rd October for another exciting term.
