How Do I Make or Do That?

For this fortnight Year 1/2 students have been planning and writing procedures. We have thought about the procedures we do without thinking, e.g. reading a book, to unfamiliar procedures such as making something new. We made some fabulous magic rainbow milk in each classroom as an introduction. Students were amazed!

Planning the procedure before writing it contributes to its success. Thinking about what is our goal? what do we need? do we have what we need? what steps do we take? what order do we do the steps? 

Procedure writing also supports our understanding of verbs and their importance when writing a procedure.

Hopefully, from practising our procedural text writing you will see Spoonvilles popping up in our designated gardens by the end of this week. Thank you parents for sending in wooden spoons for us to complete this activity.
