Acting Principal's Report

I acknowledge the First Peoples of our nation and the traditional custodians of the land on which our beautiful school stands, The Wathaurong people. I pay my respects to the Wathaurong people and acknowledge their contribution and care of the land and waters on which our school community works and lives. I pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge and thank all First Nations people within the Miners Rest School Community.

Book Week

Book Week celebrations have begun across the school and the students in the Senior Learning Centre are very busy preparing activities for Friday related to the Short-listed titles for 2022. Friday we will join as a whole school to celebrate and parade in our Book Week costumes in the Gymnasium, followed by activities and fun supported by our student leaders. We would love our families to join us on Friday to celebrate Book Week at our school.

World of Maths

Next week all of our children will attend an engaging and fun-filled session in the Gymnasium, exploring everything about Maths. Classes will visit over Monday and Tuesday to explore problems, experiment with solutions and challenge each other to extend their mathematical thinking.

We are looking forward to welcoming families on Monday evening to engage in learning about Maths and explore hands-on activities. See you all at 6:00 pm next Monday!

Foundation 2023

Do you have a child in your family starting school next year? Do you know of a family with a child that is ready for school in 2023? We are currently taking enrolments for Foundation 2023 and will be shortly sending out the Kindergarten to Foundation Transition Program, beginning early in Term Four. If you are yet to enrol your child for school, please come and see our Administration Staff and they will happily support you.

Cybersafety Awareness

With the use of digital technology, comes a gateway to a whole new world of information and connections. Please be aware of your child's interactions online when at home and support them wherever necessary to be involved in positive, safe experiences. The website below may assist families in supporting online activity at home.

Year Three Camp

Next Wednesday, we will farewell our Year Three students, and staff as they head off to Cave Hill Creek for their first camp experience. We hope for good weather and know that they will all enjoy the exciting experiences that the Cave Hill Creek Team offer. We thank Mrs Simpson, Ellie, Holly, Katherine, Matt Smith and Narelle Karslake for attending camp. I would also like to acknowledge Mrs Simpson and Katherine for their coordination and organisation of the camp activities and schedules. A big thumbs up to the Year 3/4 team remaining at school to cover classes. A great team effort!

Enjoy the rest of the week,
