VCAL Career Session

As part of the alumni program, last week we welcomed back to Ballarat High School baker Amy, plumber Peter and gardener James. The VCAL students had the pleasure of listening to Amy Dridan 2019, James McFarlane 2013 and Peter Thompson 2010 discuss their post-school journey. 

 

Amy, a baker at Bakers Delight in Ballarat spoke about how her school-based apprenticeship led to a full-time position. 

 

Peter has experience in both the commercial and domestic side of plumbing and discussed his day-to-day schedule and the reality of being a tradesman. 

 

James, a gardener at Scotch College in Melbourne, told students about how he was always suited to outdoor work and now runs his own business in his spare time, in addition to studying horticulture. James was thrilled to catch up with one of his favourite teachers, Mr Every.

 

Our ex-students all enjoyed a tour of the school and were amazed with the changes. Thanks for volunteering your time and for being a part of our program!
