Good news - inside and outside the classroom

Bode Crawford

Year 7 Student and talented pianist, Bode Crawford, won a gold medal at the Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod last week.

Bode performed four piano pieces in competitive sections and came away with a Very Highly Commended for his piece entered in the “Australian Composer” section, but received his gold medal for the piece he entered in the “Open Choice” section.

For his winning piece, Bode played Mozart’s Piano Sonata No 11 in A Major – more popularly known as Rondo alla Turca – he received a high praise from the adjudicator, who publicly commended his finger speed and agility in playing at a very fast tempo.

Bode was pleased to defend the gold medal he won in this section at his previous Eisteddfod efforts, where he also took away silver and bronze medals in other sections. Bode is tutored in piano at Wangaratta High School by Josh Prenzler.

Congratulation Bode.

Kylie Wealands - a special cause

As you may know, my 11 year old daughter, Georgia, and I have Type 1 diabetes - it is my 27th dianniversary today! 🎈For the past two years, our family have completed the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) walking challenge in October to raise much needed funds into research for treatments and a cure. In the short time Georgia has had diabetes, the advancements in technology have been amazing and I am cautiously optimistic that there may even be a cure in her lifetime.

So this year, I am hoping some of my colleagues will join our team in walking 125kms throughout the month of October (we can increase this distance if we meet it quickly) and raising money. If you would like to join our team or simply donate, please click on this link: https://walk.jdrf.org.au/fundraisers/teamkellands

Thank you!

Team Kellands (Kylie, Damien, Georgia & Emma - plus Bonnie who does a fair few of the kms).
