I would like to introduce Renee Murtagh who is our new Mental Health Practitioner at Wangaratta High School. Renee comes with a wealth of experience. Renee is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with nearly 20 years experience working in a variety of different settings. 

 

Renee has worked in an inpatient mental health unit and in a variety of roles in Community Mental Health teams, including crisis assessment and case management, providing mental health care in GP clinics, working in the perinatal emotional health program, outreach mental health clinician for 12-65 year olds and being a Drought Counsellor all for Albury Wodonga Health public mental health service. Recently Renee has had leadership roles in Mental Health in the Professional Development Unit and managing the Early Intervention & Capacity Building team for Albury Wodonga Health including managing the Early Psychosis service, Kids Early Action in Schools program and outreach mental health services across the Eastern Hume Region. Renee has lead the mental health service response to all major Community Disasters since 2009, starting with the 2009 Bushfires and more recently setting up a team of experienced mental health professionals responding to 2019/20 Bushfires.

 

Renee will be a great asset to our Wellbeing Team and is looking forward to contributing to the wellbeing of students and building the mental health capabilities of the wider school community.
