Competitions

Pursue your passion and add to your resume with the following amazing competitions:

 

Science Writing UNSW Bragg Student Prize for Science Writing. For students in Years 7 – 10. Applicants will write a short essay on ‘What is Science?’. Recipients can win a fantastic set of prizes, including publication in Australia’s top science websites. Applications close 19 August, https://refractionmedia.submittable.com/submit.

 

Creative Arts Bright Awards – run by Billy Blue College of Design at Torrens University. Entries are now open for students in years 10-12 and their school to win monetary prizes to help kick start creative dreams. Applications close 4 November, www.torrens.edu.au//bright-awards.

   

Social Justice Matters video competition If you are a high school student in Australia, you can enter the Monash Arts Essay Competition as part of Social Sciences Week 2022. Tell us what social justice issue you are passionate about, why it matters, and what we can do to address this issue. Wildlife photography 2022 Crikey! Magazine Photography Competition. This is a partnership between Crikey! Magazine and the Australia Zoo. Applications close 31 August, www.australiazoo.com.au 

 

Amazing programs and camps

Defying the Drift Program: you will participate in a 3-day residential program at Longerenong College in September and then present to a Rotary Club about your experience in the program. Applications close 31 August and the cost is $350. Sponsor Rotary Clubs can assist with this fee. For information and to apply, visit www.defyingthedrift.org.

 

Spring into Monash: Indigenous Camp 2022 This camp will provide Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students from Yrs 10 to 12 with an insight into university life and an opportunity to connect with youth from across the country. The camp will run between 25 – 28 September, www.monash.edu/indigenousaustralians/study/spring-camp.

 

Take CTRL: IT Bootcamp: interested in where an IT degree can lead you? Monash University is running an IT bootcamp for students in Years 10 – 12 on Tuesday 27 September at the Caulfield campus. The bootcamp will enable you to be in the driver's seat for interactive workshops, hacking demonstrations and robot interactions. You will learn alongside current students and academics to explore Monash IT, www.monash.edu/it/events/2022/take-ctrl.

 

Biomedical Research Summer School: Regional Victorian Year 11 students are invited to apply for The Holsworth Biomedical Research Initiative Summer School at La Trobe University. The event will be held between 12 – 14 December at the Bendigo campus. La Trobe will provide two nights’ accommodation on campus, all meals catered, and return transport to Bendigo from regional hometowns, www.latrobe.edu.au
