Kool Skools 2022

Our students’ musical talent was on display last week as 20 young musicians travelled to Melbourne across two days to record the school’s 25th Kool Skools CD.

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID restrictions, it was fantastic to see students making the most of the opportunity to record original and cover songs at new location Empire Studios in Heidelberg West.

The students were excited to get back in the recording studio after a two-year hiatus due to COVID and their tracks impressed the sound engineers. Equally as impressive is the CD – called Mixed Nuts – cover art which features an original design and photography from Year 11 student, Isabel Robinson and Year 12 student, Emily Doig. These two talented creatives were also given fantastic feedback from the studio’s manager who said she had never seen such impressive work ethic from two students in the studio’s digital creations room.

Wangaratta High School has participated in the Kool Skools program since its inception, winning many awards for music and design. The program has helped launch the careers of many Australian recording artists such as Delta Goodrem and Missy Higgins.

The Mixed Nuts CD is due out later this year – stay tuned for information on how to get your copy!
