Grade 1/2

What a fun-filled week we have had for the first week of term 3!

On Wednesday, the Grade 2 students were lucky enough to be involved in the 'Craft Power' incursion, where they turned into carpenters for the morning. Learning how to use hammers, nails & pliers, they used their skills to make wooden billy carts. For many, it was their first time using these tools and I was amazed by their efforts and determination to give it a go!

On Thursday, we celebrated Italian Day. We started the day with a whole-school assembly and were so pleased to hear from a special guest all the way from Italy... Ginevra! We took part in many activities throughout the day, including pasta art, pin the nose on Pinocchio, Pinocchio craft & a whole-school quiz. We were also lucky enough to enjoy a delicious, traditional Italian hot chocolate and biscotti. It was incredible to see that a majority of the students dressed up and got into the spirit of the day! Many thanks to Maestra (Daniela Catta) for all her work to make this day such a success!

We would like to welcome Michaela McCleery to our teaching team this term. Michaela is replacing Sarah Bailey on Thursdays and Fridays in Term 3. Many of you will know Michaela as our MiniLit teacher. If you don't know her, be sure to pop in to the 2SB classroom to say hello.
