Principal News

The end of Term 2 is fast approaching and what a busy one it has been! Although COVID-19 has still caused some disruptions we are pleased that all of our students have been able to continue to engage in learning onsite as well as participate in experiences such as incursions, excursions, camps, athletic events and interschool sports. We thank our wonderful students, staff, parents/guardians and Brookside Community for their continuous resilience and flexibility, as well as all of the hard work that has been put into making this term such a success.

 Student Leadership Workshop

A Student Leadership Workshop (inclusive of all Student Voice and School Captains) was recently conducted by Ms Gretel Van Wyngaarden, focusing on the further development of Student Voice and Agency across the College. Students were engaged in various activities to support the development of their leadership skills.

Year 6 Canberra Camp

The Year 6 Canberra Camp went ahead earlier this term and proved to be a great success. Students and staff had a wonderful time and participated in various activities/tours throughout the week.

Mobile Phones at School

Students in Year 7-9 must have their phone in their bag from the point of entering the school gates, with students then securing their bag in their lockers & students in 5-6 securing their phones in the lock boxes located in their classrooms.  All students are required to provide their own lock for their locker or classroom lock box & provide a spare key/code to their homegroup teacher in the event that they misplace their key or forget their code. At dismissal, students are to ensure phones remain in their bags until they exit the school gates. For further information, please refer to the Mobile Phone policy on our school website.

Year 8 & 9 Exams

Students in Year 8 & 9 participated in exams in the subject areas of English and Math. The exam period provided students with a positive experience in future test taking conditions through practising skills that are vital for their later years of schooling. Throughout term 2, students learnt a range of exam taking and study skills to support them during this exam period.

Year 7 Camp

On Wednesday morning we saw off our Year 7 students attending the Lake Dewar Camp experience. We wish all students and staff attending the camp the very best for a memorable time. We look forward to hearing about their wonderful experience whilst engaging in various team building activities.

Attitudes to School Survey (AToSS)

The Attitudes to School Survey is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. The survey will be completed by our students in Years 4 – 9 during the last two weeks of Term 2. The results from AtoSS will provide the College with information and data which will shape our future directions.

Semester One Reports

Teachers have been very busy this term completing Semester One reports for their students. These reports provide parents/guardians with information on the progress of their child/ren throughout the first half of the year across all subjects, and will be published on Wednesday 22 June via Compass.
