Wellbeing/Mindfulness

Mindfulness

In Mindfulness, we focused on the topic of Resilience.

To begin the session, Year 4 students participated in a discussion about Resilience. We learnt that when something doesn’t go our way, these are some questions we can ask ourselves to regulate our emotions:- Say to ourselves: “OK, that didn’t go as planned.”- Notice and sit with any uncomfortable feelings or emotions that show up.- Remember that life is full of ups and downs, and that everyone makes mistakes.- Be kind to ourselves.- Ask yourself: “What can I learn from my mistake?”

Students then created a ‘Comfort Menu’ filled with nice things they can do to comfort a friend who is feeling upset.

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships

In Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships, the Year 4s are focussing on the topic of Personal Strengths.

We have been learning to identify strengths within ourselves and getting goals to build upon them. During this lesson, students picked 3 strengths that they wanted to build up. They wrote the 3 strengths on a PowerPoint slide and every day during the week reflected upon how they practised showing that strength.
