Principal's Page

Dear Parents and Carers,

Term 2 has been a great term of learning, parent involvement, and extracurricular activities.

As a school, we have continued to negotiate all the challenges that sickness and unpredictable weather are presenting both in classrooms and in the organisation of school events. Yes, kids missed out on a lot over the last two and half years but we remain positive about all they have achieved and experienced this term.

A positive mindset shows kids how to be resilient. How are you feeling about school life at the moment and how is it impacting your child/ren?

Are you a downhill skier or a snowboarder in mindset?

Downhill skiers love the smooth and fast run with no obstacles, want to get from point A to B as fast as possible, love the sense of freedom,

Snowboarders love the twists and turns, the jumps, the obstacles to navigate around, don't mind the odd fall when trying to nail a new trick.

The expectation that all experiences and relationships should be a smooth run from A to B or without obstacles, sets adults and children up for disappointment and frustration.

Having a snowboarder mentality allows you and your child/ren to look forward to the course that lies ahead - the term that lies ahead, knowing that there will be obstacles and disappointments but with a healthy mindset for when the twist and turns disrupt the downhill run.

Recently, Peter Hill, our Director of Schools, wrote:

Amidst the pressures of our time, it can sometimes feel like we are surrounded by darkness. As people of God and people committed to Catholic education, we are people of hope. We are called not just to find the light, but to be the light; to lean on faith and draw strength from the inspiration from the Holy Spirit at work in our lives.

Thank you to our students, staff and parents who have been the 'light' this term, you are the people of hope.

Thank you to all of the snowboarders who continue to encourage staff and understand that the run will have its obstacles at times for the school.

For all things at St Joseph's, give thanks!
