Tech Ambassador Workshop

Planning for the Maker Faire

On Monday, 6th June, the ESC Tech Ambassadors (Izabela, Theo, Naman and Paxton) headed to the Whittlesea Tech School for their third workshop. This workshop centred on choosing their Student Ambassadors for the Maker Fair as well as choosing and planning their activities to showcase to primary students during the Faire.

Ambassadors learnt basic circuitry skills by constructing a wand using a button battery, copper wire, a cardboard strip and a bull paper clip. They then nominated four representatives as committee representatives for the Maker Faire. The remainder of the day saw all ambassadors in their groups to think of, design and plan an interactive STEAM activity for primary students to participate in during the Faire. Ideas such as an egg drop, magnetic slime and even an optical mirror have been planned.

Overall, ambassadors learnt to identify appropriate STEAM activities for primary students, identify and mitigate any risks involved, and factor materials and costs for running their chosen activities.

Here’s to a successful test run of their activities in their next workshop!
