Killara Schools Partnership

KSP Strings Ensembles Concert

On Tuesday 14 June, Killara High School held our first KSP String Ensembles Concert. Roseville Public School, Killara Public School and Lindfield East Public School joined our Junior and Senior String Ensembles to perform a variety of Ukrainian Folk Songs as one big ensemble directed by Mar'yana Sywak. We had performances from a mixture of the ensembles, showcasing the talent and dedication of the students.  It was a fantastic experience for all our ensemble members, and we can't wait to do it again next year.

Student Voice

On Monday 6 June, students from the Social Justice Committee (SRJ), Keeva O and Elliot D, took part in the Killara Schools Partnership conference and discussed the issues of sustainability with the primary schools in our area - Gordon East, Killara, Lindfield and Roseville Public Schools. These bright primary school leaders gave us some very good ideas on sustainability that we could implement into our school.

One of the key ideas raised was about the waste bins in the school. Many leaders agreed that recycling is a key part of making change, as it is a simple way to prevent waste from being sent to landfill. The SJC then expressed their contributions to sustainability, such as the No Palm oil Initiative, how important recycling bins are, Awareness days and regular school clean ups. One interesting issue raised by Roseville Public was that many students' lack of enthusiasm when they tried to implement change, lead to many great ideas not being utilised within the school community. Most schools agreed that increasing sustainability is hard and is a long journey to success. These ideas impacted everyone in the zoom and that everyone was on the same page when it comes to increasing sustainability

Overall, this was a successful meeting with the leaders across our communities and we would like to thank Ms Dixon and Miss Saliba for organising this enriching experience.
