John XXIII Rowing Club

Welcome all rowing families back to school and back to the final leg of our rowing season.

It was very pleasing to see great numbers resume training this week in the lead up to our All Schools Regatta this Saturday 23 July.

Rowers enjoyed a change of scenery with completing their strength and conditioning session at the Diamond Fitness facility. It is a great opportunity for our rowers to experience high performance venues and we thank Diamond Fitness for their support of our program.

Year 8 Rowing Program

Thank you to all new rowers who attended out first meeting at school. We covered the following:

  • PE uniform is required at all sessions
  • Drink bottle, change of clothes and towel should be packed
  • Safety processes and following instructions
  • General what to expect at sessions

We are thrilled to have record numbers this year in the program. All rowers and families are asked to keep the following date free for our John XXIII College House Regatta.

  • When: Saturday 17 September 2022
  • Venue: Canning Bridge John XXIII College Boat Shed
  • Time: 8:00am – 12:00 noon

This is a fun family oriented event. A Parent information session will briefly follow this regatta for new rowers wishing to continue in 2023.

All rowers must be in full John XXIII College attire. Clothing that is not John XXIII uniform will be confiscated. Rowing uniforms are permitted. John XXIII zootsuit must be worn.

Boat Loading

Girls will be loading this Friday morning. All girls must be in attendance. This is a big regatta and with many hands, we can still train and load.

Boat Unloading

  • Saturday afternoon, all boys will return to the shed to unload. Please contact me should you have any queries.
  • Travelling as a squad is important for cohesion and morale. It is a requirement that all rowers travel as a squad to and from the regatta.

Rowing Presentation Evening 2023

In true John XXIII tradition, we like to celebrate as a group on a wonderful rowing season and give thanks to all those who have assisted throughout the season. Plans are still underway, however, I ask all families please tentatively book Saturday 17 September 2022 as our Rowing Presentation evening. It will likely be a 6:00pm event. More information will be communicated as details are finalised.
