Principal's Page

Dear Parents and Carers,

Students and staff have arrived back at St Joseph’s for Term 3 ready for a full term of growth in faith and improvement in learning. We have much to look forward to and a sense of wondrous curiosity in all that will be.

We enter the term with a great deal of optimism despite the reality of ongoing illness among students and staff. Our optimism relates to student progress in learning and participation in school events.

I ask parents to consider their child/ren's attendance at school this term. Education in New South Wales is compulsory. This means all children are legally required to attend school whenever instruction is provided.

Thinking about taking a holiday?

Every day at school is a day of new learning.

Parents and carers are encouraged not to withdraw their children from school for family holidays. Families should try to arrange holidays during school vacations. It is so important that your child/ren are at school to participate in the class program of learning.

When your child misses school they miss opportunities to learn, grow their friendships, and build important skills, knowledge and understandings.

It is not the responsibility of teachers to provide work for students going on a holiday. Learning is provided at school and is meant to be accessed at school where the teaching occurs.

Is your child regularly late for school?

Being on time for school sets children up for a successful day and creates a routine.

Is your child regularly absent for the day?

Every day counts and matters. Every day, new learning occurs in every class and this learning is built upon in the following days, weeks, terms, and years.

Of course, students should always stay at home if they are sick but regular absences if a child is not sick really are problematic for learning, wellbeing, and social skill development.

For all things at St Joseph's, give thanks!

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?

When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly.  End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards.
