Achilles Community Report

Welcome to The Achilles Community Newsletter, we have arrived at the end of Term 2 and looking back we are so proud of our community for putting together such a wonderful Semester. We have seen substantial progress in your child/children in all areas of the curriculum.

Reading

In Reading, we are currently working on Phase 3 sounds and students have started to finesse blending sounds to create a word and thus we have seen great success in the reading skills of most of our students.

Writing

We are presently working on CVC words; children are proving to be able to segment sounds and write CVC words. We have commenced teaching students to create sentences and children are now learning how to create a sentence structure (capitalisation, spacing, and punctuation).

Maths

We are now focusing on a basic version of Addition and Subtraction; we have exposed them to many learning recourses and manipulatives to aid with this subject. We are familiarising students with terms such as whole, part, all-together and take-away. We are learning to collect data and to convert data into graphs, we have also incorporated yes/no questions to help students interpret data.
