Performing Arts Highlights

Year Foundation Communities

The Achilles and Luna communities have started to develop their drama skills when performing using their face, body and voice to act in the space. They have enjoyed improvising to stories and playing pretend with their friends using costume pieces and accessories. Students will be learning how to express emotions as their character, how to act out different animals and community members.

Year 1/2 Communities

The Argus and Xenica communities have started to learn how to role-play with others in the space and act out drama stories using their expressive skills. Students have enjoyed pretending to act out movement journeys and sharing their creative ideas. They will be participating in a range of drama activities that aim to build confidence, expression, ability to stay in character and improvise.

Year 3/4 Communities

The Icarus and Apollo communities have started to learn how to create dance sequences focusing on the dance element: actions. They collaborated with others to share and express their movement ideas in response to letters of the alphabet and improvised different ways of moving to the action words: walk, pause, spin and collapse. Students will use ribbon wands to perform a dance using technical and expressive skills to an audience.

Year 5/6 Communities

The Monarch community are building their knowledge and understanding of the choreographic devices used to create a dance performance. Students are learning about the history of dance by learning to perform popular dance steps from the 1950s – 2000s. They will collaborate with others to share their movement ideas and take part in exploring different dance improvisation techniques.

Congratulations to the Year 5/6 Performing Arts Captains: Shylah from 5/6A and Alisha from 5/6B!
