BUILDING AND PLAYGROUND FUNDING

As part of recent funding announcements from the Victorian Government, our school will receive a new permanent building to provide space for 300 students. Our school will receive at least $11.201 million for a new learning space for our students and our community.

Thanks to everyone for their input in our recent survey, this information will help inform the architects to design our building. We will work with the Victorian School Building Authority and architects in the coming months and keep you updated the progress.

We are also fortunate to receive $200 000 through the Inclusive Schools Fund. We will be working with the Victorian School Building Authority and architects to build an inclusive outdoor learning space, including new sensory equipment. This will include a playground for Year 3-6 students.

PARKING: SOFTBALL CENTRE: HIGHLANDS MASTERPLAN

Below are maps of the masterplan for the softball centre and community area behind our school. The area will include 2 softball fields, a soccer field, cricket nets, a community garden, playground and barbecue area, an off-lead area for dogs, community parking and paths.

As a school we will work the local council to enable our students to access parts of the area during recess and lunch as well as during physical education and fitness time. The community parking and drop off area will be a welcomed inclusion for our school.

All facilities are scheduled to open during Term 3, which will include 100 car park spaces for morning and afternoon drop off and pick up. Parents will be able to enter via Rhyolite drive for the car park near the softball centre or via Waterview Boulevard for the extra spots where the Kindergarten is located.

We will update everyone once a date has been set for access.

NEW SCHOOL WEBSITE

We have launched a new school website due to a number of technical difficulties with our recent supplier. You will find a range of information and resources about our school.

GOLDEN SUN MOTH

The golden sun moth is an endangered moth that lives in our local area. On Waterview Boulevard, at Aitken Creek, there is a protected reserve for the golden sun moth. There are fence posts surrounding the reserve.

Our school logo is based on the golden sun moth.

Our communities are named after moths and butterflies.
