Compass Calendar of Events

And wait we have!!!  As a community, the wait for the new building has been long and arduous.  Over the years, there have been many campaigns championing the needs of our school. There have been frustrations and challenges.  But we are now over the largest hurdle; decanting and demolition of the old building and moving into the new building.  The wait has definitely been worthy it by the expression on excited faces in the new building, hearing the excitement and revelling in all the hard work.

Thank you to the staff, parent volunteers and students for all their determination and support in the move.

JUST DANCE

School Concert 2022

The countdown is definitely on for our school concert on Tuesday 9th August at the Frankston Arts Centre.  Check COMPASS for all details.

  • Do you know what your child needs for the performance?
  • Have you booked your tickets?
  • Have you paid for the concert rehearsal day?

School tours

Just wanted to do a shout to our fabulous School Captain Asher B. and Vice Captain Kya P. for conducting the first tour of the new building 120722.  They were so proud of what they could share and the modern elements they could show off.

Asher was such a hit with a little 2023 Foundation Annalyce by drawing with her, playing games and reading to her. that she very cutey asked Asher for a playday when they said goodbye to each other. 😊

Child Safe:  Policy updates

The new Child Safe standards have commenced from the 1st July.  As such, school policy updates were required, which was a key focus at the recent School Council meeting. The following policies have been ratified and are now live on the school website.

Book Week and Student Voice

Book Week 2022 is approaching and we are super excited about this one!

All staff will be dressed as Little Miss, Mr Men and/or Person book characters.

Students will be encouraged to be dressed up as a character too! More details to follow in the coming fortnight.

Student Uniform expectations

The student dress code outlines student dress and appearance expectations.  There are two elements requiring parent attention:

  • If a student is out of school uniform such as a uniform item is being washed and requires an additional day to dry, a note from the parent is required.
  • Extreme hair colours (eg: green, blue or purple rinses) and/or extreme hairstyles are not permitted.  Plating of coloured ribbons falls into this category and need to be removed (unless connected to religious, ethnic or cultural beliefs or background, approved by the Principal).

Before and After School

Student safety at CSPS is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of student supervision arrangements before and after school.

  • Before school: School grounds and the Kiss and Go are supervised 8.45 - 9.00am.
  • After school: School grounds and the Kiss and GO are supervised 3.30 - 3.45pm.

Students on school grounds outside these times will NOT be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).  It is the duty of care of parents to communicate with the Office if outside of these times requires additional support from the school.

Change of clothes for your child

During Term 3, the weather is often wet and being wet means mud.  Please ensure that your child has a change of clothes in their school bags (including socks!). This will mean that we do not have to call you to bring up some clean clothes when a slip does occur. This is relevant for ALL year levels; Foundation to Year 6.

Many students have chosen to wear gumboots whilst outside with normal shoes for inside.  This is a terrific idea.

School Council met on Wednesday 22nd June online.  Some notables discussions points include:

  • AGM Report including 2021 Annual Report (PDF) and 2021 Presidents Report
  • AIP Mid Year monitoring summary with Senior Education Improvement Leader
  • Assessment and Reporting reporting including Student Led Conferences
  • Spanish @ CSPS report
  • SWPS Behaviour Matrix community feedback
  • Term 2 student attendance data
  • Respectful Behaviours within the School Community
  • Ratification of Child Safe, ICT and Wellbeing related policies
  • Buildings and Grounds update with a specific focus on the Capital Works
