The final week of this term was a really busy and exciting time for our Instrumental Music students. Our students showcased their work through two great performances. On Tuesday the 21st of June our Stage Band travelled to Melrose Receptions in Tullamarine to perform as part of our region’s annual music showcase ‘School of Rock’. We performed two blues/jazz pieces ‘Crank It Up’ and ‘Mercy, Mercy, Mercy’ that were well received by everyone in attendance. This performance was a great opportunity for our students to perform in a large venue with professional lighting, sound and staging and our students certainly rose to the occasion.
Our Stage Band for the day comprised of Meisje Williams (Clarinet), Ryan Porteous (Clarinet), Grace Baker (Drums), Hayden Falzon (Baritone Saxophone) & Dane Macdonald (Piano). They were also joined by Ms Ventura on the Saxophone and Mr Harber on the Guitar. Unfortunately, Taj Lowe (Guitar) & Georgia Gikas (Saxophone) could not attend the day and are an important part of the Stage Band that you will see at future performances.
On the 23rd of June, we also hosted out Mid-Year Concert. This was the first one of these events we’ve been able to run since late 2019 and it certainly made up for time lost! At the concert, students performed a selection of solo, duet, trio and ensemble performances including performances by our Choir and Stage Band. It was really pleasing to see how many parents, friends and family came along to support our students and how much work our wonderful music students put into their performances. All students who performed on the night showed a huge amount of courage through getting up on stage and everyone put together really enjoyable professional performances. Thank you for all your hard work. We will host another concert towards the end of Term 4 and I am anticipating that it will grow even bigger and better, I hope to see you all there.
