An Artist and Educator

Todd Jenkins

Todd Jenkins has been on the Austins Ferry staff part time as a member of the Learning Support Team since 2011.  He is also an accomplished artist.

In 1990 Todd was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tasmania, majoring in painting.  Over the last twenty years, Todd has exhibited throughout Australia in numerous solo and curated group exhibitions.  His work is held in private collections throughout Australia, as well as China, Singapore, Switzerland and the USA.

He recently completed his sixth major exhibition at the Despard Gallery (April 27 – May 21)

The exhibition was entitled ‘Turning Tides’.  There were 26 paintings in the exhibition and in these Todd explores Tasmania’s unique coastal regions, reflecting on the biodiversity of our marine ecosystems. His work responds to the experience of exploring these areas firsthand, using paint to describe the shifting peritidal regions where the coast interacts with the sea across estuaries and tidal pools.

In recognising Todd's amazing work it is worth noting that the College has had a strong influence over a number of artists working locally including Joshua Andree, Josh Prouse, Jordan Cowen and Sam Williamson who recently had an Exhibition at Gallerie 71.

Todd’s wife Bridget is also on the St Virgil’s staff as Director of Identity / Aboriginal Student Support Teacher.  (refer to the article on ‘Reconciliation’ in this issue).
