Principal's News

Term 2 tends to be the busiest term in all schools and we can recall some major events that took place during the last ten weeks; Anzac Day, Cross Country, Mother's Day, the Warialda Show, NAPLAN, Sorry Day, National Reconciliation Week the Combined Athletics Carnival. Apart from these “big ticket” events, there have been lots of “little successes” in learning; students making gains in all learning areas, in their well-being and their social development. Congratulations girls and boys! A special Thank You to our hardworking staff who make all this possible.

Term 3 Pupil Free Days

Two pupil-free days are being planned for Term 3. A staff Spirituality Retreat Day is set for Monday the 12th of September and a Curriculum day later in the term is in the process of being approved. Both dates will be confirmed early in Term 3.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week is celebrated across our nation from Sunday the 3rd to Sunday the 10th of July. NAIDOC stands for the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. "NAIDOC Week celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It provides an opportunity for all Australians to learn about our First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth."

This year's theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!

See our JOEY'S YARNING PAGE for details of our school NAIDOC cultural afternoon.

Afternoon Pickup

We invite parents and carers to wait for their children inside our school grounds. Our rose garden has been our traditional pick-up point in the afternoon. We encourage you to sit on the benches around our garden and this will help alleviate the congestion at the front gate as well as children leaving the ground unsupervised.

Parent and Friends Committee

We have set Tuesday the 27th of July at 5:30 pm as our first P&F Committee Meeting.

At this meeting, interested parents and friends can nominate for these positions from the floor:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary &
  • Treasurer

Cathy Ible, CSO Parent Engagement Officer, will guide us through the election process and explain the role of the Executive Members, the term of office, the frequency of general meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
