Senior School
Senior Sub-School News June 22 2022
Finally, students in our VCE and VCAL pathways have been putting in a real shift as we wrap up the end of a very busy Semester. Year 11 classes have begun Unit 2 while Year 12 students are now in the final phase of the VCE, having begun Unit 4! Meanwhile, VCAL classes have progressed into the second half of their programs for the school year.
We would like to heartily congratulate our Year 11 VCE students who recently participated in their first round of exams. The cohort approached the exam period with conviction and determination and we saw some fantastic results both in terms of the soft skills that students gained, as well as the invaluable experience of enhancing their exam technique. Well done to all of our fantastic year 11s.
In our VCAL pathway there has been a hive of activity amongst our Year 12 Personal Development Skills (PDS) class. Ms. Cross Gunn’s class have put on some amazing activities across the school recently, from basketball competitions for Junior school students to a hugely successful Pyjama day for the whole college and there was even a ‘guess the weight of the hen’ competition run by Corey Franklin.
Finally, with the upcoming holidays, it is crucial that students both rest up and stay on track with their progress. We strongly encourage our VCE and VCAL students to do the following over the break:
- Maintain a healthy sleep routine (don’t get in the habit of staying up late – it’s really hard to undo this once school returns!)
- Maintain a steady study schedule (for year 12s that means factoring in at least a few hours of study per day). We recommend continuing to follow your school timetable: 9-3pm each day with breaks for recess and lunch.
- Make time for social events and relaxation (but do so in moderation).
Thanks to all of our senior students for their commitment to their studies this term. We hope you have a nice break and look forward to seeing you back at the start of Term 3. Let’s make the second half of the year even better than the first.
