VCAL Personal Development Excursion to the RSPCA
The Year 11 VCAL Personal Development class were enthusiastically welcomed into the goat enclosure, and some hearts were certainly won. From chicken coops and the sheep paddocks to the horse barn, and of course the enclosures with many cats and dogs, the RSCPCA staff introduced our students to many lonely hearts. They were happy to have a number of opportunities to pat and talk to some rescued animals. In fact, we had to be very strict about NOT bringing any home on the bus (especially that VERY long eared rabbit!).
There was a very interesting session explaining the purpose and nature of the RSPCA. Overall, the visit led to a deeper knowledge and understanding of the invaluable work done by such a community organisation as the RSPCA. This was a surprise to some students.
Students were pleased to finish our day with a visit to Bunnings. Teams scattered with their numeracy task in hand to gather prices, measurements and ‘correctly planned’ lots of materials for a number of pretend home improvement tasks.
