Year 12 Biology  - Extended Practical Investigations

Over the last fortnight students in Year 12 Biology completed their extended practical investigations on cellular processes.  Each group chose an experiment on photosynthesis or cellular respiration and investigated how a chosen independent variable - such as light wavelength, light intensity, or atmospheric carbon dioxide - affects the rate of photosynthesis in elodea plants or algae. Cellular respiration experiments included how different types of sugars affect fermentation in yeast. Students planned their own experiments, organized their materials, submitted risk assessments, conducted the experiments and recorded results. They then completed scientific posters outlining all components of their investigations.

This SAC will be an assessment for Unit 4 Outcome 3.
