STATE FOSSI EMBLEM

(SOME GOOD NEWS FOR A CHANGE ;-)

One of our new families who joined us this term was the Hunder family. Oona is a student in grade 4 and Oona's dad, Staum Hunder, was the discoverer of a rather special fossilized animal. Apparently a young Staum was out surfing one day and came across the fossilized remains of a large whale-like creature. This creature was there after named Janjucetus hunderi. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, but the last part of that name (hunderi) has immortalized the Hunder family.

While that's a pretty cool story, it doesn't stop there! Melbourne Museum is currently calling on all Victorians to cast their votes for Victoria's Fossil Emblem.... and guess what?!  Janjucetus hunderi is among the final 8 nominees!

On behalf of the Castlemaine PS community, I call on our community to follow the link below and  cast your vote for the ferocious whale ancestor Janjucetus hunderi !  Lets make it Victoria's fossil emblem!
