TARGET 80% HERE WE COME!

This time last week we were hearing conflicting messages from the government - would schools continue with home learning? Or, would we return to face-to-face teaching? Our staff undertook preparations with an aim to be ready to jump either way as soon as an announcement was made.

When the announcement finally came, what we didn't anticipate is that we would be asked to operate in 3 modes at the same time; homeschooling and face-to-face schooling and the onsite class for vulnerable/authorized workers' children. This has stretched our resources to the limit, but we'll make it work as we come into the home stretch of what has been another very challenging term for everyone. If nothing else, Covid has taught us how to be flexible and adapt quickly!

This has been an eighteen-month-long endurance test for the community, and the light at the end of the tunnel is the 80% vaccination target we expect to reach in November. The hardest part of an endurance race is the last leg when a runner's exhaustion begins to overtake them. If we ease up now though, everything we have endured will have been for nothing.

We are now literally counting down the weeks until we can put lockdowns behind us - possibly for good. Everybody is tired, but all we can do is put one foot in front of the other until we hit 80%. It won't make all our Covid problems go away, but it may see our kids stay at school where they belong, and our families and friends sharing good times together again. So let us encourage each other in this last push to the finish line;

  • wear your mask
  • keep your distance
  • get yourself vaccinated
  • ...and have a great weekend! :-)
