Year 8

It has been a period of contemplation for Year 8. It has been challenging for the students to keep motivated and engaged, in what has seemed like a never-ending-story! To their credit, most students have been engaged and conscientious. What I have particularly enjoyed is the incidental chats to the student about how they are coping, what they have been doing to keep themselves healthy and what is going on for them. This to me, is life giving. They are more resilient than I could have imagined and are very proactive about what brings them joy.
Brigidine Day was a delight. Our College did everything possible to make it a celebration of the Brigidine spirit! Despite circumstances, every student had an opportunity to engage and celebrate.
Whilst it is all very well to be positive and to have hope and joy in our lives, the fact is, that it's has been challenging for everyone these last few months. We are acutely aware that this period has been very adverse for many and understand that our students may be experiencing extreme challenges. The wellbeing of our students is our primary concern; if our students' wellbeing is not taken care of, they cannot learn effectively. Our college Wellbeing Team are available for any concerns.
I am focusing on getting back to school and our students having the best possible end to the year available. I am still holding out hope that Year 8 Camp may be a possibility!
In the meantime, congratulate your daughters on coping; without doubt ‘coping’ is the operative word. From my experience in Year 8 classes, the girls have been incredibly resilient, hopeful and strong. I take my hat off to them and cannot wait to be back onsite at our College with them.
