The John Cain Library Great Book Swap

The John Cain Library Great Book Swap for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation – Thursday 22nd August
The Great Book Swap is a fantastic way to celebrate reading locally, and raise much-needed funds for remote communities. The idea is to swap a favourite book in exchange for a gold coin donation. We will be accepting good quality book donations between now and our Book Swap Day – Thursday 22nd August. Please leave book donations with staff in the John Cain Library. Financial donations can also be made at our Book Swap Day page. Please share our page with family, friends and colleagues to increase our reach for this great initiative.
Last year, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation raised over $270,000 from the Great Book Swap. In 2019, their goal is to raise $350,000 to gift 35,000 new books to remote communities who want and need them. To celebrate the UNESCO International Year of Indigenous Languages, we have been assigned to an Animals in Language House and are looking forward to learning more about some of the communities the Indigenous Literacy Foundation work with. Our house is Lungkura House (blue-tongued lizard in Walmajarri, WA).
