Divisional Athletics

On Tuesday 28th May our Athletics Team travelled to Meadowglen Athletics club to compete in the Division Athletics Carnival. The conditions were far from perfect, with a very cold, wet and windy day our students did their best to keep themselves warm.  Congratulations to all of our team members who gave their all despite the weather.  Many of our students had success on the day, and they now move through to the Regional Athletics Competition which is to be held on September 4.

Cross Country

On May 30 we held our NHS Cross Country.  The course is run around the boundary of our school, through surrounding streets and along the Merri Creek. The afternoon could not have run as smoothly as it did without the help of staff and our sports captains and other student volunteers. The top 10 of each age group moves through to the Divisional Cross Country which was held on June 5 at Reservoir High School and along Darebin Creek.  Once again, we were the largest school to enter a team and came away with many of our students finishing in the top 10 to qualify them to move to the Regional Cross Country event which is to be held at Bundoora Park on June 19.  We wish them well.

Yr 9/10 Soccer

Great success for the Year 9 and 10 girls at soccer on Thursday May 30. Reservoir struggled, seeming to have a lack of experienced players, and Northcote won 10-nil. Lalor seemed to start better and offer some more competition – our goal keeper Emma got her hands on the ball a couple of times! However our team came together and won 11-nil. Rosie and Ella Rodger were standouts, as were Harriet and Matilda Lohrey – although really every player did an excellent job and showed great sportswomanship.

Ms Legge

Congratulations also to our Yr 9/10 Boys soccer team who also won all their matches to win the Divisional Competition on May 30.  Both teams now move through to the Regional Finals which are to be played in August.

Yr 9/10 Netball

Congratulations to our year 9/10 Netball teams who recently competed in the Divisional Competition.  In the Girls pool Northcote Gold won all of their matches to become overall winners on the day.  A similar story for our boys team who also won all of their matches to also become Division winners.  Both teams will play in the Regional Finals in July.  A big thank you to Ms Lester and Ms Gollan, and students Lucy Grage-Perry and Alice Montague for selecting and coaching the teams.
