Dear Sacred Heart School Community

It is with great sympathy for our students and their families, that I have to inform you that our school will be closed as of tomorrow, for the next five school days in accordance with our state government's directive announced earlier today. On behalf of the staff, I can assure you that this is not a situation we wanted to experience again, but also understand the reasons for the government's decision with this strain of COVID19 being so contagious.

Today, I have asked our teachers to prepare their students learning for at least tomorrow, keeping in mind that parents and guardians are returning to an experience that was both challenging but well done last year. Typical of the staff, they have gone above my request and have organised a number of days learning. Your child will have at least some learning activities for tomorrow, that will need minimal if any assistance by yourself.

Our junior students ie. Year Prep and Year One, will bring home a learning pack to cover the next five days. The pack includes a learning grid and a range of resources covering all subjects. The parents of our middle school students  ie. Years Two, Year Three and Year Four may be asked to pick up some resources next week.

I have asked all staff who normally work on a Friday, to come in tomorrow as usual and use the time to finalise preparation for their students for next week. I ask that you check your emails regularly as this will be the avenue by which our teachers and their students and families will remain in contact.

As a responsible community member, we have to abide by the government's restrictions so that the lockdown can be for a minimal time. With that in mind, I ask that as you all did so cooperatively in 2020, that only those students of permitted workers come to school for the next five days.

To plan for supervision of these students, I ask that you email me tonight if you are a permitted worker, and your child will be at school.

In conclusion, whilst this is not a scenario we wanted to revisit, despite the frustrations and uncertainty in your own lives, you did a magnificent job last time working with us to continue educating your children.

Regards
