Dear Families

The Children in our school have just completed Religious Education units on God creation. We have had some amazing wonderings, and thoughts on how to care for Gods earth. Children have reflected and responded in the most artistic ways.

Below are some works from our Grade 3/4 Unit.

Our Foundation and 5/6 children learning about the rainbow serpent for Indigenous creation stories.

In our school calendar we have the Sacrament of Reconciliation commencing on June 2nd at 6.30 pm.

We look forward to this in anticipation.

We also have our Sacred Heart Feast Day coming up on the 11th of June, where students will attend their first whole school Mass for the year and participate in some feast day activities following.

TRINITY SUNDAY

“Baptise them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

Year B | Sunday 30 May | white

Preparing to hear God's word

Who is God?

What is God like?

How would you describe God to someone?

The Gospel Story

We believe that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

When you make the Sign of the Cross, what words do you say? You will hear these words in the Gospel reading today.

Jesus told his disciples to baptise people in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

These are still the words used to baptise people today.

The Gospel

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew   28:16-20

Baptise them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus' eleven disciples went to a mountain in Galilee,

where Jesus had told them to meet him.

They saw him and worshipped him,

but some of them doubted.

Jesus came to them and said:

"I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth!

Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples.

Baptise them in the name of the Father,

the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

and teach them to do everything I have told you.

"I will be with you always,

even until the end of the world."

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Reflecting on the Gospel - discussion

God is Mystery and cannot be fully explained with language or symbol.

Invite children to share their thoughts about what God is like?

They may have some favourite images that help describe some quality or characteristic of God e.g. God is like a friend who listens to me; God is like a mother who cares for me; God is like a father who fixes things for me; God is like the ocean which is powerful.

THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST

“This is my body. This is my blood.”

Year B | Sunday 6 June | white

Preparing to hear God's word

What are your favourite things to eat or drink?

What would you choose to serve your friends if they came to dinner?

The Gospel Story

Today we hear the story of the Last Supper. Jesus asked his friends to prepare a place for them to share a special meal. During the meal, Jesus blessed the bread and shared it with his disciples, telling them that it was his body.

Then he blessed some wine and shared it with his disciples, telling them that it was his blood.

Jesus knew that he was going to leave his friends, so he wanted them to remember him whenever they shared a meal.

The Gospel

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark                                 14:12-16, 22-26

This is my body. This is my blood.

Jesus said to two of the disciples,

"Go into the city, where you will meet a man carrying a jar of water.

Follow him, and when he goes into a house, say to the owner,

'Our teacher wants to know if you have a room

where he can eat the Passover meal with his disciples.'

The owner will take you upstairs and show you a large room furnished and ready for you to use.

Prepare the meal there."

The two disciples went into the city and found everything just as Jesus had told them.

So they prepared the Passover meal.

During the meal Jesus took some bread in his hands.

He blessed the bread and broke it. Then he gave it to his disciples and said,

"Take this. It is my body."

Jesus picked up a cup of wine and gave thanks to God.

He gave it to his disciples, and said, "Drink it!"

So they all drank some.

Then he said, "This is my blood, which is poured out for many people, and with it God makes his agreement.

From now on I will not drink any wine, until I drink new wine in God's kingdom."

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Reflecting on the Gospel - discussion

A family meal is more than just eating. It is a time when we build our relationships as a family. We nourish each other by spending time together. Just like the special meal Jesus had with his family, our family meals take preparation too.

What happens in your family to prepare for a meal?
