Garden Update

The 3/4 students have been busy in the garden planting broccoli seedlings and preparing succulents for sale at the Mudbrick Café.  The enthusiasm that the students have for being in the garden is fantastic and they really love to be involved with the various garden tasks. The chickens continue to be a real highlight, the students have been feeding them green waste from the garden which they really enjoy. They have been learning about the lifecycle of a plant and had the opportunity to plant some seeds at the end of the session.

Thanks to Mrs O’Mealley for the seeds. In time we will have some more vegetable seedlings to plant back into the garden. If any families are collecting the Woolworths seed pots and do not wish to use them, we will happily use them in the kitchen garden at school.

Kitchen Update

Hello everyone from the kitchen.

It was great to be able to welcome people back to our Café.  We appreciate your ongoing support. The experience our students learn about hospitality and greeting people is invaluable. It was a great success and our school leaders did a great job in greeting and serving our guests.

The grade 3 &4 students were fantastic chefs in helping to prepare food for the Café and by all reports the soup they made was delicious.

I have attached the recipes from our Café as many people have requested them.

It is going to be an exciting term in the kitchen as we see the return of our Mudbrick Café .

Our Junior Students have been enjoying their sessions in the kitchen learning some new skills and tasting new and known foods. I love their willingness to have a try at foods that may be new to them.

Selection of Preserves For Sale

We still have a selection of pickles, chutneys and preserves available for purchase through the school office. Priced from $2-$5. All proceeds support our program.

I also have some Passionfruit Curd, Zucchini Marmalade and Pickled Cucumber available. These items are kept in the refrigerator so please let me know if you would like any of these.
