Supporters’ Day Barbecues – Saturday 15 May

A massive thank you to everyone who gave their time to help with the barbecues last Saturday in Powell Pavilion and Edmund’s Way – as either a cook, sandwich maker, server or organising the lines of boys and parents into an orderly fashion to place orders for Bacon and Egg Rolls, Sausages on a Roll and other yummy delights. We could not have done it without you!

Thank you to Lina Bartorilla, Belinda Barakat, Elena Ierado, Lena Malki, Teresa Malki, Natasha Bechara, Kylie Buckley, Fernando Carbo, Mick Shannon, Steve Purser, Christian Barton, Tony Ibrahim, Shaun McCrystal, Jacqui Barton, Brigid Faust, Claudia Isaac,  Kate Thomson, Robin Raheb, Chris Raheb, Matt Whitehead, Ruba Ghabar, Julie Pearson, Jason Arnold-Auland, Alison Arnold-Auland, Simon Coorey, Sam Coorey, Rick Staveris, Michael Taylor, Steven Yates, Janet Tannous, Tania Toomey, Vicki Panagopoulos and Zoe Panagopoulos.

You are all stars! A huge thank you to legend Jason Arnold-Auland, who barbecued all day.

A Forum for St Patrick’s College Parents

We have all heard the news. A former Sydney schoolgirl. A petition. Literally thousands of stories of sexual assault. Non-consensual sexual encounters that are claimed to be common-place occurrences at parties for teens.

And our kids think it is normal. They think it is just how things are.

How are we supposed to talk to our children – our teenagers – about consent, respect, staying safe, and all the risks our teenagers face? Between us not knowing what to say, or when or how to say it, and our kids not willing to hear it, we are in a tough spot. But we must have these conversations. We must. So where do we start?

Dr Justin Coulson, one of Australia’s leading parenting experts and father to six daughters, has put together ‘Answers’, designed specifically for parents of Sydney and New South Wales high school students. Parents will hear about:

  • What Sydney’s teenagers are getting up to in terms of sex, pornography, alcohol and drugs.
  • Why they think they know everything (and why it is so hard to teach them anything).
  • Simple ways to have the conversations your teenager needs to have in a way that invites them to want to listen.
  • The critical things every parent must do to reduce the risk that their child will be either a perpetrator or a victim of non-consensual sexual activity (assault).

Note – this is a live webinar, but a link will be available for seven days after the event in case of timetable clashes so you can catch up and watch it later.
