Co-curricular

Thank you - Years 5, 6 and 7

I would like to acknowledge and thank the Year 5, 6 and 7 cohorts along with the staff that supervised them last Saturday for what was a tremendous demonstration of College Spirit. I have no doubt whatsoever that those who witnessed the enthusiastic and positive support, left the College later that afternoon with a smile on their face. The boys were resplendent in the famous BLUE BLACK GOLD and their behaviour was exemplary. The young men in the 1st XI Football and 1st XV Rugby teams were particularly grateful for the rousing support they received. A sincere heartfelt thanks from the wider SPC community and I encourage those boys to come along and support their senior teams whenever they have the opportunity.

Supporter’s Duty – 29 May

A reminder that Years 8, 9 and 10 have been designated supporter’s duty on Saturday 29 May. All boys are to report to the Powell Pavilion between 1:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. to have their names marked off. Once this has been completed, boys who represent the College in Football (Soccer) will move to SPC No. 2 to support the College’s 1st XI whilst all other boys will move to the Breen Oval Stand to support our Rugby fraternity. The boys who support the 1st XI will make their way down to the Breen Oval Stand at the conclusion of the fixture on SPC No. 2. Boys will then be dismissed at the conclusion of the 1st XV game, approximately 4:50 p.m. Given we will be hosting St Stanislaus’ in Rugby, I am confident that many of their students will stay behind and support their team. This will no doubt add to the great atmosphere on the day.

Debating

Congratulations are extended to our Debating fraternity who have performed very well in the last two rounds of the CSDA competition. Friday 7 May saw our boys make the long trip out to Campbelltown to face another St Patrick’s school, coming away with 8 wins out of 12 Debates. This was bettered last Friday night when the College hosted St Gregory’s Campbelltown and recorded nine resounding victories. I was fortunate enough to watch our 7 A team debate and was suitably impressed by the poise and conviction of our speakers. This augurs well for the future.

Sick Bay – After School

The College is urgently seeking suitably qualified and experienced nurses, physios and/or trainers to assist with the supervision of Sick Bay after school when our teams are training. At present we are looking for attendants to assist on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Ordinarily, attendants arrive by 3:15 p.m. and supervise the facility till 5:00 p.m. Previous experience in the treatment of sports injuries would be ideal. Expressions of interest along with details relating to one’s qualifications, should be forwarded to me at steven.fochesato@spc.nsw.edu.au at your earliest possible convenience.

In accordance with Child Protection legislation, all people seeking child-related employment must obtain a Working with Children Check clearance prior to employment at the College. For information on the NSW Working With Children Check click here
