Lately, I have found myself reminiscing about those cold winter days during school holidays when my own children were in Primary School. I remember with great fondness, the indoor games, and activities we shared and the memories of just relaxing because we couldn't go outside.

Your child's academic learning is being taken care of by the wonderful teachers at school, but their life skills come from you, as Parents and Caregivers. Think of a time at home with the children as time to teach them about sharing, taking turns, morals, respect, kindness, and empathy.

With the school holidays only a couple of weeks away, and with the current situation in Victoria, I thought I would share this list of ideas, for entertaining the children indoors. Perhaps you could make up your own list of activities and tick them off as you do them.

THINGS TO DO INDOORS

  • Bake some cookies
  • Make pizzas
  • Write a handwritten letter to a family member
  • Build a fort
  • Have an indoor beach party
  • Watch a movie marathon
  • Have a dance party
  • Set up a tent indoors
  • Do a jigsaw puzzle
  • Teach or learn to knit
  • Make something with Lego
  • Have a DIY spa day together
  • Do karaoke
  • Play board games and/or card games
  • And my favourite one of all is to Read out loud.

In the Kingswood Learning Hub, in the Virtual Library, you will find a couple of new book readings of picture books for your children to enjoy. To date, there is Bear and Rat and I'm Fabulous Crab!

I will place a Compass post when a new one is entered

Keep warm and happy reading
