From the Principal

Dear Families,

Circuit Breaker Lockdown Update.

As you will be aware Victoria has been placed into 7 day circuit breaker lockdown with restrictions in place for businesses and households from 11:59 tonight until midnight on June 3rd.  We hope that this short, sharp lockdown brings the spread of the virus to a halt once again.  This may be a difficult time for families, for businesses and for the children.  Your child's teachers will be in contact.  Please manage what you are able to, for you and your family.  We understand that parents will be trying to work from home during this time.  The school will be operating with limited staffing in place for the children of authorised workers and vulnerable children who are at school.  An Operoo notice will come home shortly indicating if you require care.  The mantra remains the same, if you are at home then your children need to be at home too.

Pupil Free Day's are such important days for professional learning for staff.  Monday had been tagged as a pupil free day with the focus  around SMART goals for students and their learning, in the afternoon we were working with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic School's staff in preparation for the school review in Term 4.  Due to restrictions this has now been postponed and remote learning will be in place.

As with our Education Department colleagues the teachers will use tomorrow to prepare for the week ahead.  There will be no formal learning for the children tomorrow, it will be a pupil free day.  Tomorrow you will receive information from your child's teacher in regard to what will be happening with your child's learning from Monday.

Other School News.

We all had a great day on Monday for our feast day.  We started the day with Mass in the Church with Fr Michael.  It was the first time we had gathered as a whole school, with the Preps attending their first Mass as students of Our Lady's.  We were blessed with a lovely sunny day with the children enjoying the playground at the park and the huge open spaces of the oval.  Thank you to the mums, dads and grandparents who came and shared the time with us.  The hot dogs were a big hit with not one single hot dog left!  Thank you to our mums Sarah, Eva and Diana for working together to prepare lunch for the children.  The highlight of the day was i the afternoon when we welcomed so many family members back inside the school.  Thank you all so much for coming and sharing our feast day together.

We always like to welcome parents into the school (when Covid allows) in many different ways: as parents helpers in classrooms,  as helpers on special days and attending excursions with us.   All  parents must have a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD (WWCC) and the details must be on file before this can happen.  This is legislation for all visitors in schools.  This does not include attending special events.  Please make sure Liz and Loretta have details of your current WWCC.  This is part of our Child Safety obligations and is the same in all schools.  Many thanks!

The cold weather has arrived.  For those children who enjoy rugging up we have school beanies and scarves available.  They look very smart, are warm and are available through the uniform shop.

Thank you to families who have kept children at home who are unwell.  If children have any signs of a cough, cold, runny nose or an upset tummy they need stay home.  We also have a number of unwell teachers, children's programs have continued and we have worked to keep  disruptions to a minimum.

May we all be back onsite together very soon!  Look after yourselves over the coming days and I look forward to seeing everyone via Zoom next week.

Until next week

Therese
