Specialist Program

Food Technology- Jane Stacey

I have had the pleasure of seeing many wonderful photos of students preparing muesli bars, quiches, bliss balls, pizza, scrolls, scones and treats for a special person. I had some students checking in on Webex each week and having a chat about their cooking and experimenting with recipes. Well done everyone!

Science - Chloe Venezia

This term Secondary 7/8A & 7/8C have taken part in remote learning and face to face learning. While the program may have been delivered differently this term, students in both classes have had the opportunity to partake in some amazing science experiments.

Students have learnt about Chemistry, Physics and Earth sciences through a variety of experiments such as; Walking Rainbow, Magic Milk, Raining Blood, Paper Airplanes, Hoop Gliders, Earthquake Shake, Chain Reaction, Lightning Balloon and Egg Drop just to name a few.

Construction - Isobel Baynes

Throughout remote learning in term 3, Year 7/8 students have been challenged by a range of building and design ideas in the Construction elective. Students have made String art with intricate geometric patterns and upcycled everyday materials and household recycling into Junk Critters, Bird Feeders and cute Planter Boxes.

Interesting Environmental art was made out of stones and tan bark, with some very creative results!

Outdoor Education- Rachael McKeown

Term 3 took us to remote learning where the students competed in challenging physical tasks each week. These included scavenger hunts, hut building, indoor activities and orienteering. Students also enjoyed our weekly WebEx meetings and were able to share their ideas and experiences of what they had been taking part in at home.

Music- Justin Hall

Students in Year 7/8 have tried their hand at some listening and singing of the lockdown released Billie Eilish song ‘My Future’, as well as working on some music production using the free online browser software Beep Box.  Some students have demonstrated how to add instruments and new melodies to existing pieces, as well as how to export their files to be saved on hard drives.

P.E- Hayley Northridge

This term has been a difficult one, however the students have been fantastic and continued to show their skills while at home.

We have been meeting every week via Webex and participating in a range of games and activities. This has been great as we have been able to keep in contact while keeping active.

Well done to all students and I hope you enjoy a well deserved break.

Digital Technology- Jess Mitchell

This term in Digital Technology, 7/8C and 7/8A were onsite for the first few weeks and focused on creating different stop motion movies. They created a cartoon animation using the Animation App, a whiteboard animation using iStopMotion and they moulded plasticine in different ways to create a simple claymation movie against a coloured background.

During remote learning, students had opportunities to create pixel art using the ‘PixilArt’ tool, play logic games and design a treehouse. They also learned some basic coding with a few different programs including LEGO Bits and Bricks, CodeMonkey and Kodable. Check out these pictures of the work students submitted this term.

Visual Arts - Vera Mitchell

During term three, we went back to remote earning and continued to explore the artist Paul Cezanne and his art works. Students were encouraged to engage and share their work via WebEx meetings. We looked at a range of activities where we needed to identify the difference between Landscape, Portraits and Still Life. Thank you to all the students who shared their work and to the parents who supported them.
