Private tuition is back for all instruments. It is not too late to get involved in music lessons. All you need do is call the relevant tutor and book in a time. Students come out of class during the school day to attend lessons for 30 mins.

Our wonderful flute teacher Sarah Wang is unable to continue with us next year so I am on the lookout for a new flute tutor. I would love to hear from you if you know someone who would suit the position. louise.flannery@det.nsw.edu.au

Please see below for the list of tutors.

NB Elliot Styche and Dave de Vries will be available to start by week 5.

DANCE

There has been some disruption to our company rehearsals due to the covid guidelines and lack of space, however we are looking forward to showing the dance items we have been working on this year at MADD day in Week 8. After the HSC exams are completed, we will have the studio space available again and the following groups will resume as normal.

Year 9 and 10 dance students are currently rehearsing items to be filmed and submitted for inclusion in the ‘In the Spotlight Virtual Dance Festival’ which will occur at the end of the year in place of the annual live event held at the Seymour Centre. Our students have really missed the opportunity to perform in a professional setting this year but ‘cross fingers’, the festival will resume as normal next year.

DRAMA

With COVID disruptions and the impossibility of live audiences, the ever-flexible Drama students at CGHS have explored other ways of showcasing their considerable talents. In our Y7, Y8 and Y9 lunchtime Drama ensembles, students have been exploring the process of film-making - developing a concept, scripting, storyboarding, filming and editing the films themselves. Students have been learning how different camera shots and angles can convey their ideas, and learning about acting for film, and how this is different from acting for stage. While they are all dying to feel the excitement of a live audience again, film-making has certainly captured their imaginations.
