Selemat Siang!

Wow! We can’t believe that we are back onsite at school this week! We would like to once again thank our families for all of their hard work and support throughout the Remote Learning period, we look forward to being reunited!

Returning to Onsite learning, Foundation students will be entering and exiting through two different points depending on their class. FD and FH students enter through the foyer to line up in the courtyard. FG and FJ enter through the gate near Senior Playground off Mt Pleasant Road and line up in front of playground with their teachers. Foundation students will be dismissed at 3.30 pm through foyer and gate near Senior Playground to parents outside.

Last week in Maths students focused on addition and subtraction, practising the various problem solving strategies that they had learned throughout the term and applied them to different types of problems, closed and open-ended. Students used their creativity to create and solve their own addition stories. We are very excited for our class mates to have a go at solving each other’s stories this week in Maths.

In English, students focused on looking at the inside and outside traits of a character in a story, which is the beginning of our narrative focus this term. We also had a large focus on Wellbeing, looking at exploring the Zones of Regulation, identifying what emotions students were feeling, how they knew they were feeling that way and which zone they were in. This will be a continued focus throughout the term, especially in the first few weeks settling back into Onsite Learning.

Next week we can’t wait to spend some time developing our design and engineering skills in Guided Inquiry! Students will have the opportunity throughout the term to explore different materials, as well as design and construct a bridge! We look forward to seeing all of their designs and finished projects throughout the term. This project will incorporate many STEM skills.

If you have any questions or concerns about the transition back to onsite learning please get in contact with your classroom teacher via Sentral.

Have a wonderful week,

Foundation Teachers
