Celebrating Student Success- Achievements in the Community
The Secondary 11/12 staff were extremely pleased to have been contacted this week by Brodie Hanson. Brodie was a graduate of Concord School last year and was always a student who gave his best, demonstrating a positive and hard-working attitude in all areas of his study.
Whilst in Year 11 Brodie undertook Certificate I in AgriFoods (Horticulture) for his VET studies, showing independence and ability when working in the gardens around the school. As part of his VCAL program in Year12, Elise Vallender, our Structured Workplace Learning Coordinator, organised a placement at Bunnings Mernda. Brodie absolutely shone in this experience, working in the Nursery section, and then set his sights on working there in the future. When Rhiannon Campbell, the Post-School Transition Coordinator, worked with Brodie and his family to establish goals and a Transition Plan for when Brodie left school, working at Bunnings was what he wanted to achieve.
Brodie and his family maintained a connection with Bunnings, applying for jobs through the online portal. Their persistence has paid off, as Brodie has been offered a position – quite a feat in these Covid times!! He will commence once he has been inducted by HR.
This is a perfect example of how Concord School works together with students and families to prepare our students for life after school.
We thank Janine Hanson for notifying us of Brodie’s success and her kind words:
As always, we value your support, encouragement, kindness, knowledge, and most of all your dedication to our son.

TheirCare - Before and After School Care
The last week at OSHC has comprised many fun activities in keeping with ‘Sensory Week’ including the children making play dough, and playing with kinetic sand. Additionally, children made their own delicious pita bread pizzas and have been testing their gross motor skills and reaction skills with an electronic ‘Bop-It’ game. Active games have included baseball, trampoline play, and playing the ‘lava monster’ tiggy game.
Their Care provides a stimulating and safe environment for all children and an environment where children come and enjoy their time in their program. During sessions children develop life skills, friendships, confidence and creativity through play.
Concord School and Watsonia Primary School has partnered with TheirCare to provide quality care, flexibility and commitment to deliver on our promise to your school community.
