Junior School Learning

Grades 1 and 2

In Literacy students have begun learning all about poetry. So far they have learnt about alliteration and rhyme. Here are some amazing examples of shape poems.

In Numeracy students have been learning all about division. Students have been able to solve division problems by drawing pictures, number lines and using arrays.

Well done to the 1/2 students for working so hard this term. We are so excited to have you all back in the classroom next term!

Physical Education

These last couple of weeks in PE for the Junior School have been fun! Since we haven’t been able to have birthday parties together, we decided to play with some balloons during PE instead. Students were taught that striking was hitting an object with control, so we did exactly that, practised hitting our balloon with lots of different objects whilst trying to control it. We also had fun watching YoYo on YouTube and tried to do some of the tricks she did with our balloons. Tippy even enjoyed playing with balloons at school too! These classes have been a fun way to lead in to our return to school, as we look at striking games such as tennis and so we can play with all of the new tennis equipment that has arrived at school during remote learning.

Art with Ms Belcher

Wow! Loved all the Optic Art pieces that were posted on the Padlet. I did realise it was a bit of a tricky activity but so many students had a great growth mind set and didn't give up! Super proud of you all Teesdale Primary! Keep up the good work .....Ms Belcher❤️

Science

Check out all the mixtures our junior scientists have been making and describing at home. Most of them look good enough to eat. A reminder to all students to please have some cornflour at the ready to join my slimy science session on Thursday!
