Art Show Highlights

Art Show Thank You
What a sensational evening our Art Show ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ was. The night was filled with delicious food, artwork, singing, a wonderful school community, and most importantly sunshine!
We would like to formally acknowledge and thank the following people who helped to create such a successful evening for our community to celebrate the arts. It takes a village and what a sensational village we have at St Joseph’s.
First and foremost thank you our incredible students. The children from Prep to Year Six have been working so hard on each and every artwork in the exhibition. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them! The children’s creativity, determination, and love of learning are something to be admired. I feel blessed to teach Visual Arts at St Joseph’s.
To our Art Captains for 2022, you opened the show beautifully with your thoughtful words. You are enthusiastic and passionate about the arts and you should be very proud of yourselves for the contributions you have made to the show.
To Miss Chan, the children sang so beautifully under your guidance. Thank you, we are so lucky to have you! The Year Two ‘fake’ Aussie Dingo song was a classic! The opportunities you offered the children with the solos, choir and ensemble were fabulous.
To our hard-working staff, thank you for your creativity and vision for your class auction items. We loved the variety of mediums and the creative ideas you all brought to these artworks. The students loved creating these under your guidance and expertise.
Thank you to the parents who purchased these artworks, what a marvelous keepsake. We hope you enjoy them.
Thank you to Nathan Waterson from Jellis Craig for auctioning our artwork. Nathan did an exceptional job!
To Miss Karen and her passionate sewing club, I have learned so much working with you and I have really enjoyed seeing Noah’s Ark come to life over the year. I loved the sustainability aspect of this project. This piece was my Dad’s favourite and I have already heard many parents asking if they can purchase it.
Miss Stacey and Polly Kidman, thank you for working with me over the last few months to get the finishing bits and pieces complete. From sewing and hanging mermaids from the ceiling to creating clay you were so happy to assist with everything. You gave up so much of your time to help and it is very much appreciated!
Thank you also to Heather Whittle, Andrea Breeze and others who also gave their time to help out along the way.
To our major sponsors of the Art Show, thank you for supporting the arts at our school. I would like to thank the following businesses for their support.

To all of the companies and families who generously contributed towards the silent auction, live auction and raffle items. These were such a hit! I will publish a full list of these in our next newsletter as Lucy has some of the finer details.
A huge thank you to Lucy Lewis who coordinated the silent auction items. Wow! You went above and beyond, this was by far the best Art Show Silent Auction we have ever had!
To Hanna Rose, words can’t express how grateful we are for the two large spectacular artworks you donated. These two artworks were major live auction items and I am sure that the lucky families who purchased these will enjoy them for years to come. Thank you!
To Laura Piva for baking her delicious award-winning scones for our community open day! My daughter had seven! She said they were the best thing she had ever eaten. Thank you for giving up your Saturday morning. We would all LOVE the recipe.
Thank you also to Martin, Michelle, Stacey Farrel, Mark Breeze, Jane Pausewang, and Courtney Jenrda who assisted with our Saturday open morning.
To James Noonan and Tenielle Bare, Talia Hasset, Amy Napolitano, Amy Buick, Chris Buick and others who helped run our bar, thank you so much! The sun was shining and the bar was pumping! Thank you. This group of parents were all there until late Tuesday evening helping to pack away, thank you so much and apologies if I have missed anyone.
Thank you to Joe Noonan, Samson Hassett, Oscar Farrell and Harvey Stewert for also helping to wash dishes and clean up. I taught Oscar back in Prep and it’s lovely to see him back at St Joseph’s again supporting our school.
To Mario Fera from Slide Productions, thank you for the light up bar and the spotlight gorilla, these added so much to the space!
Thank you to Leo Dipetta, from Grazelands, 48 Pizza and Ink Redible Calamari for bringing the food trucks. These worked so well and the food was delicious. When I did a reflection with the preps on Wednesday it was very clear that eating hot chips at school was up there with their favourite moment of the night.
Lastly but not least thank you to our school leadership team Michelle, Martin, Amanda and Faye for your support, leadership and guidance.
Thank you to the Parents and Friends’ Association and our school board for the support with running this event.
A big thank you to Michelle who has done an exceptional job coordinating this event. Your passion for the arts is amazing and I am so grateful how much you value Visual Arts at our school.

Where the Wild Things Are
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our 2022 Art Show. The title of our show is “Where the Wild Things Are’.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of this land. We acknowledge the first story tellers and artists of this land. We acknowledge and pay respect to these art works that served as maps, told stories and passed on information and cultural stories for future generations to come.
Our art show theme is related directly to our biological sciences unit. We have been exploring animal needs, biological features and adaptations. Students have explored these themes through the artworks you will see this evening.
As we have created these art works we have had an environmental focus and as you wander around you will notice we have re purposed, recycled and re used many of the materials. Can you find the wood scraps from the cubby house? Can you find Miss Karen’s old laundry hamper? Can you find the curtain material and the computer boxes?
We hope you enjoy the show.
