PRINCIPAL

This week has been a week of celebration as we farewell the Class of 2022.  Each day this week students took part in activities which allowed them to celebrate their achievements of the last thirteen years of formal education. The final celebration was lunch with staff on Friday, followed by the ‘Reddy Talent Show’ and recognition of the class as they had one final group photo. By the time their video had finished students were quite emotional, realising that they are about to embark on their final exams and then the next part of their journey. They have worked hard, formed strong friendships with each other and their teachers.  All students will now follow truly individual pathways as they choose the next step. This cohort of students have some amazing opportunities over the next few years. Some will go into the world of work, some to TAFE and some to university.  No-matter what their individual pathway is we wish every single student the very best as they embark on the next part of their journey. They will always be ‘Reddy Students’ and they should know they can always count on the ‘Reddy Community’.

READY FOR CLASS’

During Term Two we introduced ‘Check In’.  This has become part of our school culture.  It is a time for students to connect with each other and with a staff member. One of our focus areas that staff have been supporting students with is helping them to make sure they attend all classes with the right equipment.  While each class has it’s own specialised equipment it is expected that students attend all classes with:  pens, pencils, exercise book or lined paper, the required textbook and a laptop.  Without the required equipment it becomes difficult for students to progress in their learning. Teachers have noted an improvement in students attending with the correct equipment, which is pleasing.

CHANGE TO NETBOOK BORROWING

Following the last two years of Covid and the number of netbooks that have been supplied to students we know that nearly all our students have their own personal device (netbook or laptop).  We have been advised that the number of netbooks that we can loan to students on a daily basis is to be decreased.  This is happening over the next few weeks. Many students who borrow a netbook each day have their own device.  Students will now need to bring this to school as we will not have enough to lend out to students. Therefore, from week four all students must bring their own device and make sure that it is fully charged.

PROGRESS REPORTS

The next round of progress reports will be out next week. This is the last round of progress reports before the final report at the conclusion of the year.  We strongly encourage all parents to read their students progress report with them and contact staff members if they have any questions.
