WELLBEING REPORT
Youth Action Award Nomination 2022
Congratulations to our Wellbeing Team who have been nominated for an award in the
category "Outstanding Work with Young people from Diverse Cultures, Backgrounds and Life Experiences". Sue Beamer - Head of Wellbeing at Wyndham College said "it's always great to be recognised for what we do".
The Wellbeing Team at Wyndham College
Made up of teachers, year advisors, deputy principals, school counsellors and support staff who go above and beyond standard practices for the diverse cohort of youth at the College. Their response during the COVID-19 restrictions saw every young person contacted on multiple occasions to check on their wellbeing and learning. Referrals were made to counsellors and other support staff, as well as strategies to encourage non-engaged students plus individual learning and/or wellbeing plans were developed and activated. They are insightful and caring individuals, consistently searching for new and exciting initiatives to support students. The Team actively live out the Department of Education's Strategic Plan's (2018-2022) core statement of "every student is known, valued and cared for".
How are the Awards Judged?
The Awards are judged by a diverse panel of people working with young people, as well as young people themselves. This panel includes representatives from Youth Action's membership and Board. See the full list of nominees here:
