PFA Update

Annalie Darlington

Hello Parent/Guardian

Welcome Back to School. For some families this will be their last term at PMPS, and so we intend to make it the biggest and best! Make sure you read below for all the events running and see how you can support.

FETE UPDATE

  • The Fete is the biggest event of the Term and year, so we will unashamedly be asking for help and donation lots over the next few weeks. As ever please email the PFA, with feedback, ideas and suggestions of new stall ideas!
  • Donations now welcome. We will be accepting Books, games, clothing, and craft items at the second hand uniform stall on Wednesday and Friday morning 8.30am-9.00am through till the Fete. Please do not drop of outside these times, unless special arrangements are made by emailing the PFA. We will confirm times for donation of perishables nearer the time.
  • We will be calling out for volunteers for the day from next week,  however we are looking for some more specific/ organising roles now.  If you are able to help on any of the following roles/ stalls please email the PFA.

    - First Aid- we are looking for volunteers to be on site/ on call on the day to offer first aid if required. Please let us know if you have the training/skills to help.

    - Info Stall- Looking for someone to manage the Info stall, which will issue All day rider passes/ Fete money, provide info and be a contact point for first aid.

   - Movie Night- we are hoping to run a movie room for children in need of downtime, please advise if you want to assist.

    - Fairy Floss and Popcorn- Looking for volunteers to work on this stall with a view to managing next year, as our current crew are leaving this year.

Fete Stall requests

  • The Main Stage - Does your child have a special talent that they would like to show on the main stage of the fete this year? We are looking for performers! Contact PMPS dad, Midge who is currently gathering the main stage acts (midgelb@hotmail.com). In the past we have had a wide range of performances including singers, piano players, highland dancers, tap dancers, violinists, meditation musicians and a whole lot more. We look forward to hearing from you...
  • Clothing Stall - Time for a clean out? If you are spring cleaning please put any good clothing items aside for the fete. We accept children's and adult's clothing, accessories, bags, costumes, dress ups, and second hand school uniform. Please ensure items are wearable (no holes etc), clean, folded and in size order. Spare Hangers gladly accepted!
  • Garden Stall - For any of our aspiring gardeners, now is a good time to start potting up cuttings for the garden stall. The garden stall is very popular, and we welcome any plants, succulent bowls or terrariums that are donated.
  • Book Stall - We love books at PMPS, and our book stall is always a fete favourite. We would love any second hand good quality books; fiction or non fiction, cook books, kids books or adult books are all welcomed.
  • Cake Stall - If you are making up any Jams, Marmalades, lemon curds or pickles over the next few weeks, please prepare a few extra jars for the fete, as these always sell well.
  • Henna Stall - We will be running a Henna stall at the fete, if you would like to be involved and be trained on Henna artistry please email the PFA
  • Craft Stall - For any of our crafters, now is a good time to start making some items for the craft stall or putting together some craft kits.

DIWALI

Our fantastic Diwali will be held on Saturday 5th Nov, 2pm to 5pm at the school, and each year we put on a great show of dancing, cultural dress and music.

To promote sustainable living/reuse/recycle we are encouraging parents/children set up their garage sale at the event. Proceeds go to the seller. Small fee for the stall.

Request from the School Band

Calling all guitar-playing parents: The PMPS Parents Battle of the Bands group needs to replace a guitarist. This is for a one-off gig in May 2023 at the Prince Bandroom where local primary school parent bands battle it out for musical bragging rights (but mainly raising money for the school music program and having LOTS of fun while doing so!). If you know your way around the fretboard, contact PMPS dad (and drummer), Midge (midgelb@hotmail.com). Rehearsals will start in 2023 but we would like to meet you now.
