Local Indigenous Language Sessions

This week Mel Steffenson commenced her local Indigenous language sessions at Warrnambool Primary School. Our students have been very engaged and have enjoyed learning about the history of local languages and culture. We thank Mel for sharing her time and knowledge.

LOTE

Students have been busy celebrating Undokai (Japanese Sports Day) this week. Undokai is held annually in Japan on the second Monday in October. It is held to commemorate the opening of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and to promote sports and an active lifestyle.

At Jamo this week, students have been participating in various Japanese Games including tama ileh (bean bag toss), oh dama okuri (down the line) and raketto peah (what a racket!). These games have a big emphasis on teamwork and collaboration with students working together in either the red or white team to help their team complete the goal. They have had a great time learning and playing these new games.
