Meet our School Captains
The Student Representative Council is proud to introduce our School Captains for 2023 – Jazmyn Rizzuti and Kuber Thakur. To learn more about their vision for their new role, both captains have lent us a copy of the speeches they presented to their cohort during this year’s student leadership election.
“I am confident that I display many qualities that would allow me to be a valuable member of the senior leadership team.
I am a very passionate person and as most of you know I am not afraid to speak up for something I believe in. I’m always eager to hear new ideas and perspectives, basically, YOUR ideas. I know that I could effectively communicate with you all and advocate for your opinions, concerns, suggestions. Essentially whatever you want heard, I’m here to listen and act as needed.
I love to chat, which means I’m great at communicating with people. I keep an open mind, work well with others, and do it all with a smile on my face. I often utilise skills I’ve learned through my previous experiences in leadership roles as a member of the SRC from Years 7-9 and more recently, as one of the Whitlam House Captains.
It would be great if you could all give me a chance to be the leader I’m confident I could be and vote for me as a member of the 2023 Senior Leadership Team.
To keep it short and sweet, I’d love the opportunity to be part of the 2023 Senior Leadership Team and I believe I’m your gal for the job.”

“I would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the Dharug land and pay my respects to elders past, present, and emerging. I would also like to extend my best wishes to all candidates.
Leadership’s a diverse thing. In English literature alone, there are over 350 different definitions of leadership. For me, it’s selflessness, inclusion, unity, and empathy, about creating a year 12 so unforgettable for everyone that later down the track, all of us will remember the year 2023 as one of the best years of our life.
From being the School Captain of my primary school out in the bush, and having a strong sense of advocacy, it’s always been a vision of mine that everyone in this school is recognised and supported for what they want to achieve in life. Whether that’s becoming a sparky, a doctor, the next Ronaldo, Prime Minister, or the GOAT of tennis (no not Federer - Djokovic – Idemo!) Ultimately, if we create a culture of inclusion together, nothing can stop us from achieving our vision and reaching our utmost potential.
A famous author once said that whenever you undertake to do something in life, do it thoroughly or not at all. Realise that the authenticity of hard work will only then determine if success chases you, and that if you put in those hard yards behind the scenes, toil towards making your vision a reality, it will come true, and the spotlight will find you.
Through inclusion, unity, and empathy, let us overcome the “too hard” mentality of Year 12, let us act in unity, and let our positive actions speak for itself, let us re-establish selfless leadership, let us bring back the canteen brownies, and most importantly let us leave a legacy that reflects everyone’s vision and determined attitude!”
