Spot the Smurf amonst the Minions

The last term of the year started excitedly for the Year 3/4s, with swimming and gaining three new friends. Like, little minions, they troop to Splash Pools eager to learn the basic swim strokes, survival skills, water safety and most of all, having fun. And they had buckets of it!

Our class also displayed their creativity in poetry writing and photography this term. For Media Studies, the children are learning about Representation, Framing, Angles, Lighting, and Sounds to make and present media artworks. The children used the first few sessions to learn about self-representation and how to interpret and take selfies. They will further explore learning about media in the coming weeks, most importantly when they go on an excursion to ACMI (Australian Centre for Moving Image) to navigate the world of film, photography, video games and art.

Some children would like to share some of their poetry:

We also started implementing the Lion's Quest program during our Wellbeing classes. We first learnt how to develop and improve our listening and friendship skills. We are learning how to be good friends to others by genuinely listening to one another.

Finally, the children also look forward to learning about the History of the Church, Holy Family School and Parish of Australia. Our focus for Inquiry and RE  is telling our own stories, exploring past stories, and learning from them. The class will particularly focus on learning about Nano Nagle, the founder of the Presentation Sisters, as we begin to develop our school charism.

This term might be the longest, but most certainly jam-packed with lots of learning, creativity, hope and friendships.
